| Two wicked witches, Callistra and Queen Draconia, with the help of pirates, attempt to take control of all trade throughout the world of Heart. To achieve their aim, they collect the tears of sadness and regret from thousands of people and distil them into a sadness potion which they use to poison all the chocolate exported from Arcadia.

| As the production and distribution of chocolate gradually comes under her control, the Dark Queen captures Princess Helen, the crown princess of Arcadia and holds her hostage in her castle tower, knowing all too well that her Prince Charming will be lured by the bait.

| King Cedric of Elysium is alarmed to hear of the plot to undermine the well being of the kingdom. In response, he sends Sir Robert Dews, accompanied by Prince Garvan, to the Dark Queen's realm to find what was used to poison the chocolate. Their almost impossible task is to return with a list of ingredients for an antidote and a vial filled with water from the Sacred Fountain of Eternal Youth.

| Prince Garvan is beguiled by a vision of Princess Helen and promises to rescue her, regardless of the danger to himself. As luck would have it, while preparing for their journey, our intrepid adventurers have separate encounters with the Fairy Godmother. She gives them new names (Sir David and Sir Richard Alexander) and empowers them both to find and use their own magic to reverse any spells cast upon them. |
